Great Guacamole

A Great Guacamole recipe! This is a quick and delicious dip that’s naturally vegan and gluten free with avocados, tomatoes, red onion, garlic, cilantro, lime and spicy jalapeño peppers.

Great GuacamoleEveryone will go crazy for this great guac!

There aren’t too many snacks I love more than guacamole and chips. And especially when the guacamole is great and the chips are crisp and salty.  And when there’s lots of both, of course.

Friends, today I am sharing how I make my guacamole great with this simple and easy recipe for Great Guacamole. (I know, I am so original with my recipe titles. But this is a good one – I promise!!)

I’m not talking about anything too fancy. Just the classic guacamole ingredients, like avocado (duh!), tomatoes, red onion, garlic, cilantro, lime and a little bit of spice with jalapeño, all combined in perfect proportions to yield one great (and healthy!) dip that’s 100% gluten-free, vegan and loaded with healthy fats and flavour!

Guacamole is one of those things that I truly believe is better when you make it yourself at home rather than buying it already made from the grocery store. It’s just so much more flavourful and fresh tasting and sooo worth the extra (although fairly minimal) effort – I mean, there’s zero baking, cooking and only a little bit of chopping and mashing. It’s also 100% gluten-free, vegan and loaded with healthy fats and flavour!

What is not to love?

Great Guacamole

Guacamole is not only great for summer pool parties and taco night and Girls’ night but just about every other occasion possible. And this Great Guacamole is my absolute favourite dish for any sort of potluck gathering, holiday event, birthday party or casual hang-out I’m invited to.

Next time you’re looking for something that is EASY to make (let’s face it – we all are super extra busy so we need something quick and easy) and something that won’t break the bank but can be enjoyed by all… Great Guacamole to the rescue, people!

This recipe is super adaptable to the ingredients that you have on hand as well. Don’t have tomatoes? Leave them out. Don’t like spicy jalapeño peppers? Use a sweet bell pepper instead. And to keep that guac green (and not brown), I spritz lime juice all over the top of my bowl of guacamole and cover tightly with plastic wrap (like plastic wrap right on top of the avocado to block any air exposure).

It’s one of those crowd pleasin’ snacks that you know everyone will love but it’s almost too good to share. It’s just too good.

And if this guacamole isn’t great enough you should try this Pineapple Guacamole because it is aahhh-mazing too but with a fruity, pineappley twist.  #yesplease

Description

A Great Guacamole recipe! This is a quick and delicious dip that’s naturally vegan and gluten free with avocados, tomatoes, red onion, garlic, cilantro, lime and spicy jalapeño peppers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium, just ripe haas avocados
  • 1/2 cup cherry or grape tomato, diced
  • 1/4 cup chopped red onion
  • 1 jalapeno pepper (or fresno pepper) seeded and chopped (if you don’t like spice use a bell pepper instead; about 1/4 cup)
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped cilantro
  • 1 small clove garlic, minced or finely grated (or to taste)
  • Juice of half of a lime
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt, or more to taste
  • A dash or two of hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne or chipotle powder (optional)
  • Chips or veggie sticks for serving.

Instructions

  1. Slice the avocados in half and remove the pit and scoop the avocado flesh in a mixing bowl.
  2. With a fork or a potato masher, mash the avocado until only a few large chunks remain. (Alternatively, you can leave the avocado chunkier or mash it until completely smooth it is up to you!)
  3. Fold in the tomato, onion, pepper, garlic, cilantro, lime juice, salt, pepper and hot sauce (if using) until well combined. Season to taste with more salt, lime juice or hot sauce if needed.
  4. Let chill in the fridge for 10-15 minutes for the flavours to mingle and come together or serve immediately.
  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
