A super simple and easy-to-make Chocolate Banana Smoothie recipe made gluten-free with frozen bananas blended with ice, milk of choice, cocoa and honey. And it tastes just like a chocolate milkshake but better!
Just take a sip of this!
I am totally going bananas for this super chocolatey, rich and creamy, banana-packed Chocolate Banana Smoothie. It’s pretty much heaven in a glass. Chocolaty, chocolaty heaven.
I mean, it is no secret that I am a smoothie-fanatic! Not only do I breakfast on smoothies, but I’ve also been known to lunch on smoothies and snack on smoothies and, even sometimes, dinner on smoothies. I am pretty much smoothie obsessed. I could smoothie all-day and every day. And lately, smoothies have also been my go-to afternoon must-have. And this Chocolate Banana Smoothie is my everything!!
(And can I say smoothie more in a single paragraph? Probably not!!)
I’m sure I am not the only one who needs a little extra something right at 3 pm to get through to the end of the day. And by a little extra something I definitely mean something sweet to give me a little boost. A little something that is super delicious too that will give me the energy to get through the rest of my to-do list and make it to dinner without having to burst out into a hangry fit of rage. Because we all know that that can happen sometimes. And I can’t think of a better (or healthier!!) way to continue on with my day than with a smoothie.
Except, of course, if there is chocolate involved. Because the true key to my heart is a key made out of chocolate. Because a day without a square of chocolate, or some sort of chocolatey goodness, is pretty much as bad as a day without coffee.
And let’s not.even.go.there.
MORE ABOUT THIS CHOCOLATE BANANA SMOOTHIE RECIPE: TIPS AND TRICKS
This Chocolate Banana Smoothie is pretty much my life right now.
It is like a chocolate milkshake meets breakfast meets the most refreshing afternoon snack on a busy day and even dessert when you just need a little something extra after dinner. It’s like chocolate-gone-bananas in a healthy, no refined sugar added, super easy to make, gluten-free kind of way. So frothy and smooth and icy, icy cold.
A frozen banana is an absolute must here. Nothing makes a thick and creamy smoothie like a frozen banana.
And the ice. Normally, I am not overly crazy about adding ice to my smoothies. I don’t know why but I almost always pass on the ice… except for now. The ice in the chocolate banana smoothie thickens and gives an incredible frothy (and frosty!) type-of thing. Do it.
Want to add some pizazz to your chocolate banana smoothie? Because some days we need a little extra pizazz… Add some frozen berries, a scoop of your favourite protein powder or even blend in some chocolate chips for extra chocolate and texture.
And you better make your own because I am not sharing a single drop!

Hi, I just wanted to politely let you know that because the recipe calls for honey it actually isn’t vegan. Are there substitutes you find will work such as maple syrup, agave, or molasses? I’ll be trying it with maple syrup, hope it goes well 🙂
hi im just wondering whats the calorie count for the smoothie?
Hello,
Can I have a question?
How big in ml are your cups?
Thank for answer.

Hi Rebecca
I had a banana that was getting old so I popped it in the freezer when I read your recipe. Since I had all the ingriendients, I threw them in my submersion blender cup and wala I enjoyed the best smoothie. Thanks for posting your recipe.
Is this smoothie ok for diabetics?
